Our client is an international retail joint venture backed by one of India’s leading conglomerates. This ambitious and entrepreneurial organisation has exciting plans to substantially grow the size of their retail business over the next five years. To realise fully the enormous commercial potential of their retail subsidiary, they now wish to strengthen their Mumbai based senior management team by the recruitment of a talented and dynamic Head of Property.

The ideal candidate will be a shrewd & commercially astute MBA with maybe a legal background plus at least 10 years experience of site selection, buying, and leasing. You will be tough minded & resilient individual with a clear focus on results. We are seeking an exceptional person with first class communication, negotiation, leadership & motivational skills.

Reporting directly to the CEO, your key responsibilities will be to support the company’s ambitious expansion plans by identifying and acquiring additional retail selling space that meet the strategic property plan & annual store opening plan. The scope of the role includes site identification, valuation, investment appraisal, negotiations with landlords and agents, and finalisation of all legal issues.

The successful candidate will introduce modern project approval and management processes, plus ensure that activities and costs meet budgets and target dates. To succeed in this challenging role you will need to develop and sustain close working relationships with senior colleagues, external agents, developers and landlords. You will be a real go getter with an impressive record of professional and commercial success ideally gained within leading retail companies or property agents.

Retail Manager

£££ c.£50,000 + Package

Our client seeks a very talented and ambitious individual to become a key member of the management team for this exciting retail and tourist destination. You will forge very close working relationships with all retail tenant partners to create a "centre of excellence" in terms of customer satisfaction, visual excitement and store presentation. You will take a pro-active partnership approach to help tenant retail brands to maximise their full trading potential.

This will include detailed analysis of tenant performance to identify areas of weakness / opportunity, and to provide a comprehensive package of support to each brand in terms of practical guidance, training and mentoring to help them improve performance. You will also act as the "guardian" of visual presentation standards within the centre, and ensure that every tenant problem / issue is dealt with in a prompt and professional manner.

This is a front-line, hands-on role which requires high levels of energy, enthusiasm and diplomacy. It is vital that you are able to generate a culture of collaboration and participation with tenants, whilst simultaneously ensuring that standards are achieved and enforced consistently throughout the centre. The ultimate objective is to drive sales performance, tenant profitability and customer satisfaction.

Success in this role should quickly lead to further career development within the organisation; if you have the desire, ambition and experience to succeed, then this is a very direct pathway to Centre Management and beyond within this fast-expanding international portfolio.

They are looking for at least 3-5 years operational experience with a blue-chip retail, department store or shopping centre environment. We are looking for inspirational leadership qualities and a passion for delivering service excellence through teamwork. To succeed in this demanding role, you must combine entrepreneurial and commercial thinking with very sound financial, analytical and operational skills.

The successful candidate will have acquired a wealth of technical and commercial knowledge and experience plus will have developed strong team leadership and project management skills to open new stores on time and within budget, each time.
